Located on the site of Japan's first airfield which started operations in 1911, the original single runway is still visible and has been incorporated into a larger multifunction park adjacent to the museum.

The Tokorozawa Aviation Museum is an aviation museum located in Tokorozawa, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. It is dedicated to the history of aviation in Japan and is home to a large collection of aircraft, helicopters, and aviation artifacts. The museum houses a variety of modern and vintage planes, helicopters, and other aircraft, as well as a library, a cinema, and a restaurant. Visitors can view the exhibits, watch films, and take part in educational activities. The museum is divided into two main sections, the History of Aviation Hall and the Airplane Hall.

The History of Aviation Hall is dedicated to the history of aviation in Japan, from the early days of ballooning to the development of fighter planes, bombers, and commercial aircraft. The Airplane Hall is home to a large collection of vintage and modern aircraft, including the first Japanese plane to reach the summit of Mount Fuji, a replica of the Imperial Japanese Navy's first seaplane, and a prototype of the first Japanese jet fighter. Other attractions include a flight simulator, a model airplane building workshop, and a 4-D theater. The museum also organizes various events and activities, such as lectures, workshops, and exhibitions.
