Haththikuchchi is a traditional Sri Lankan board game. It is believed to have originated from the Sinhala kingdom of Anuradhapura, which dates back to the 9th century. It is a two player game played on a board consisting of four concentric circles, with a total of 48 pieces, each made of four different colors. The objective of the game is to capture all four pieces of one color, or accumulate the most pieces, before your opponent does. The game is known for its strategic depth, requiring players to think several steps ahead and plan ahead.
The game is traditionally played with two different sets of pieces, one set for each player. The pieces come in four colors—red, yellow, green and blue, and each set contains four pieces of each color. The board consists of four concentric circles, with markers indicating the starting positions of the pieces. Players take turns to move their pieces, and capture their opponent's pieces by jumping over them. The game ends when a player captures all four pieces of the same color, or when they have accumulated the most pieces.
