Description :

The Frida Kahlo Museum, also known as the Blue House, is located in Kahlo’s birthplace of Coyoacán, Mexico. The house was founded by Kahlo’s husband, Diego Rivera, in 1958, three years after her death, with the purpose of preserving her works and providing a place of commemoration. It was here that Kahlo lived the majority of her life, from the age of 6 until her death at the age of 47.

The museum is comprised of two buildings, the house and the studio. The house is where Kahlo’s personal belongings are on display, such as her clothing, jewelry, photographs, and letters. The studio, which was once used by Diego Rivera as a mural studio, contains some of Kahlo’s most famous works, including her self-portraits and still-life paintings. The museum is not only a place to view Kahlo’s art and personal items, but also a place of celebration and remembrance. Every year on July 6, the anniversary of Kahlo’s death, a candlelight procession is held in her honor.

The procession ends in front of the museum, where guests are invited to share memories of Kahlo and her art. The museum also hosts a variety of educational activities, including lectures, workshops, and art classes. These activities are designed to make Kahlo’s art more accessible to the public and provide insight into her life and works. Additionally, the museum has a gift shop, café, and garden, making it a great destination for a day trip.
