Description :

The Deeg Palace, or Bharatpur Palace, is a royal palace in the city of Deeg, Rajasthan, India. It was built by Maharaja Suraj Mal in 1730 as a fortified palace. It served as an impregnable citadel and the summer resort of the rulers of Bharatpur State. The palace complex consists of several magnificent buildings, courtyards and gardens. The palace was built around a large lake, and its entrance is through a huge double-storeyed gate.

Inside the palace complex, there is a series of multi-storeyed structures connected by a network of corridors and stairways. The main palace building is in the centre of the complex, surrounded by a series of smaller palaces, pavilions, terraces and balconies. The Deeg Palace Museum is located in the palace complex. This museum houses the royal collection of arms and armour, manuscripts, coins, paintings, and other artifacts from the Bharatpur State. The museum also features an art gallery, a library and a photo gallery.

The museum displays various artifacts from the royal family, including jewellery, clothes, furniture, paintings and weapons. Adjoining the museum is the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, which is home to a variety of birds, including the great Indian bustard, the Sarus crane and the Great Indian hornbill. The palace complex also houses a variety of temples, including the iconic Gopal Bhavan Temple. The palace is a popular tourist destination and it is well worth visiting to get a glimpse into the grandeur of the royal family of Bharatpur.
