Description :

The Bangkok National Museum is one of the most important Cultural and Historical institutions in Thailand. Located in Bangkok’s historic Rattanakosin district, the museum houses a variety of artifacts and exhibitions on Thai history and culture, including Buddhist art, prehistoric artifacts, ancient coins, manuscripts and books, and a collection of art from the Ayutthaya and Sukhothai periods. The museum was established by King Rama V in 1874, with the aim of showcasing the Thai people’s cultural heritage. The museum is housed in a former palace building and is divided into several sections, including the Main Hall, the Buddhaisawan Chapel, the Textile and Costume Room, and the Coins and Medals Room. The museum also houses the world’s largest collection of Thai art, including works from the Ayutthaya and Sukhothai periods. In addition to its permanent collections, the Bangkok National Museum also hosts a variety of temporary exhibitions and special events, such as an annual “Cultural Festival” in December. The museum also has a library and research center, which are open to the public, and a souvenir shop. The Bangkok National Museum is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Bangkok, and is an important part of the city’s cultural heritage. Visitors can explore the museum’s collections and exhibitions, and learn more about the history and culture of Thailand. The museum is open daily from 9am to 4pm, and admission is free.
