- In 1861, he begins Historical Studies, Climatologic and Pathological of the Canary Islands, which would appear in numerous volumes over a fifteen year period: first in 1876, then in 1880, and the third and last one in 1891.
- The Bishop of the Canary Islands banned Chile Y Naranjo's work because it restricted evolucionistas (or evolutionist) ideas on the origin of the man, which Chil Y Naranjo was defending.
- He created The Museum Canario in 1880.
- He read everything he could find that had been written about the different languages on the islands.
