Description :

The museum was established in 1962 as a tribute to the Raja Dinkar Kelkar, a renowned scientist and collector of antiques and artifacts. The museum houses an extensive collection of around 20,000 items, all collected by the Raja himself. These items include sculptures, weapons, musical instruments, utensils, jewelry, toys, paintings and much more. Most of the items are from the 18th and 19th centuries. The museum is divided into four sections, each showcasing different aspects of the life and culture of India from the past. The first section is devoted to the life and times of Raja Dinkar Kelkar. It includes photographs of him, his awards, his lecture notes and other personal items. The second section is dedicated to the art and craft of India. It includes sculptures, paintings, jewelry, musical instruments and more. The third section is devoted to the everyday life of people during the 18th and 19th centuries. It includes a wide range of objects used by people in their daily lives, such as pottery, utensils, toys, weapons, etc. The fourth section is devoted to the medical and scientific instruments used during the same period. The museum also features a spacious courtyard, where visitors can relax and enjoy the serene atmosphere. The museum also provides guided tours, which are available in English, Marathi and Hindi.
