The plastic nature of the new Museum - added Boeri - represents a mark of regeneration of undisputable strength and visibility within the landscape of the gulf of Cagliari, and with the interweaving of its sinuous built elements expresses the desire to base the new Museum on the interaction between the exhibits and the movement of the users-visitors.

Description :

The Nuragic and Contemporary Art Museum, also known as "Betile", is a planned museum in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy, designed by Zaha Hadid. Work is in progress to build it on the Sant'Elia promenade, near to the Stadio Sant'Elia football stadium. The structure is very futuristic, and it is similar to a coralline concretion. The museum will be dedicated to Nuragic and contemporary art. Works from Sardinia and the Mediterranean will be displayed. Zaha Hadid has won a prestigious international competition to design the new Nuragic and Contemporary Art Museum in Cagliari, Italy. Envisioned as a project to be completed in three phases, the structure will cover some 12,000 square meters, comprised of Nuragic and Contemporary Art exhibition spaces, a library, a congress hall, offices and retail space. The aim of the project is to create a node of cultural exchanges that can simultaneously serve as a landmark announcing the arrival to Cagliari from the sea, and answer the five challenges proposed by the brief.
