Artists Space is a nonprofit contemporary art gallery located in New York City. Established in 1972, it is one of the oldest alternative art venues in the country, dedicated to exhibiting and supporting artists who are pushing the boundaries of traditional art making. The gallery is committed to presenting a wide range of media, from painting, sculpture, photography, and video, to performance art and digital works. Artists Space has provided a platform for emerging and established artists to experiment, test, and present their work to the public, often in unconventional ways. Throughout its history, Artists Space has served as an important venue for critical dialogue and discourse. It has hosted numerous exhibitions, talks, screenings, and performances, and has published over 40 books and catalogues expanding on the work of the artists it has featured. The gallery’s exhibitions have included works by some of the most influential modern and contemporary artists, such as Marina Abramovic, Robert Mapplethorpe, Robert Rauschenberg, and Cindy Sherman.

Description :

In addition to its exhibitions, Artists Space is also a venue for public programs and educational initiatives. It hosts lectures, workshops, and symposia, as well as artist residencies which provide opportunities for emerging and established artists to interact with each other, share their work, and develop new artistic strategies. In an effort to expand its reach and provide access to its programming, Artists Space also offers its programs online, making them accessible to a global audience. Artists Space has been a vital part of the New York City art scene for nearly five decades. It has provided a platform for the exchange of ideas and the exploration of new artistic directions and practices. By providing space for artists to experiment and share their work, Artists Space has helped shape the development of contemporary art and has played an important role in the history of New York City.
