The main attraction of this museum is its Egyptian mummy, which was brought to Hyderabad by the son-in-law of VI Nizam Mahbub Ali Khan, and donated it to the last Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan.

There is a huge gallery on Buddha dating back to last century.

The museum has wide variety of archaeological artefacts from the Nizam, Kakatiya dynasty etc.

  • The Department of Archaeology & Museums is a research oriented academic institution, the aim of which is to

  • Preserve ancient culture for the posterity through various activities such as conducting explorations, excavations at ancient habitiational and archaeological sites

  • Conservation and preservation of excavated sites and monuments

  • Conducting villagewise survey for registration of antiquities

  • Identification of archaeological sites and collection of epigraphical material and identification of historical monuments for their protection.
