Archaeological facts

The two-part film, which many felt was not long sufficient to allow for more than a skimming of this section of American history, spanned the nine years from the Constitutional Ratification Convention in Virginia in 1788 to the inauguration of John Adams as our second President in 1797, during which time Washington found himself in the middle of another war raging among a generation of younger leaders and moderating political plotting involving Hamilton, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe and Adams. Filming for this classic was done entirely on location in Philadelphia and Mount Vernon, as well as New Castle, Delaware.
