He studied at Jesus College in Cambridge, continuing to study Archaeology and Egyptology under Kurt Sethe in Göttingen and Strasbourg and then excavated sites in and around Egypt with Flinders Petrie and Somers Clarke. He worked with James Quibell at Hirakonpolis from 1897 to 1898

Acheivements / Contributions :

He excavated at Eileithyiaspolis with Clarke and Archibald Sayce from 1901 to 1902. He surveyed the topography and monuments of Nubia in 1906 and 1909 to 1910.
