His most important archaeological discovery of Tomb of Philip II Macedon at Vergina on November 8 1977. This discovery was considered as one of the most significant discoveries of the 20th century because the tomb remained untouched and a lot of invaluable items were retrieved.He was a member of the Archaeological Council (19641965).
