Dr. Arthur Mace, Assistant Curator, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Dept. of Egyptian Art.

  • working with George A. Reisner at Giza and Naga el-Deir, Mace united the Metropolitan Museum in 1901 as Assistant Curator of Egyptian Art.
  • Mace's sound intelligence and practical skills were precious to Howard Carter during the Tutankhamun Excavation, and he helped co-author the first volume of "The Tomb of Tut.ankh.Amen.
  • Archaeologist Arthur Mace, another member of the expedition, went into a coma at the Continental Hotel and died, although doctors were unable to pinpoint a diagnoses on his illness.
