Acheivements / Contributions  :

  • Goubaud was among the first generation of Guatemalan anthropologists to be trained in the United States and became Guatemala's first proficiently trained anthropologist.
  • Antonio Goubaud returned to Guatemala with his new companion Frances Westbrook, a fellow student at the University of Chicago.
  • Goubaud did not relax, as soon as he returned to Guatemala he began a two-year food study of Guatemalan Indians with the support of the Carnegie Institution of Washington.
  • In 1951 Antonio Goubaud Carrera passed away at the age of 49.
  • He was survived by his wife Frances and two small daughters.
