  • Clarence Ray Carpenter made many contributions to the study of animal behavior as well as the development of many anthropology departments in schools all over the nation.
  • He noted that human behavior is similar to animal behavior, and that the two should be studied simultaneously.
  • Carpenter received numerous honors and awards including The National Science Research Fellowship Award
He was a member of the Primatology Committee of the National Academy of Sciences and served during the academic year of 1965-1966 as the President of the Association for Higher Education.
