The Beneath These Waters studyof Carbone has been given many awards, including the Distinguished Achievement Award, granted by the Society for Technical Communication, as well as the Historical Preservation Award, presented by the National Parks Service (Gracia, Keeton).

Carbone was called on as a well-known Antillian archeologist to assist in restoration of stone structures, identified as ceremonious ball courts and plazas (Gracia).
