{"id":84,"date":"2008-12-29T22:42:04","date_gmt":"2008-12-29T22:42:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.greatarchaeology.com\/news\/?p=84"},"modified":"2009-02-18T04:58:51","modified_gmt":"2009-02-18T04:58:51","slug":"prehistoric-in-settlement-of-uncovered","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.greatarchaeology.com\/news\/2008\/12\/prehistoric-in-settlement-of-uncovered\/","title":{"rendered":"Prehistoric in settlement of uncovered:"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An unknown <strong>prehistoric<\/strong> settlement has been revealed during <strong>archaeological work<\/strong> in East Taunton,<br \/>\nThe dig was commissioned by Somerset County Council before construction begins on the Park and Ride scheme for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greatarchaeology.com\/Cumbria_archaeological_place.php\"><strong>Cambria Farm site <\/strong> <\/a>.<br \/>\nThe remains of a <strong>prehistoric farm<\/strong> and surrounding fields reveal human occupation from the late <strong>Bronze Age <\/strong>to the<strong> Roman period<\/strong> (1000 BC to 400 AD).<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.greatarchaeology.com\/prehistoric_archaeology.htm\"><strong>Prehistoric archaeology<\/strong><\/a> is the study of the past before<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"float: left; border: 1px solid black; margin: 1px;\" title=\"prehistoric archaeology \" src=\"http:\/\/www.greatarchaeology.com\/images\/Prehistoric-archaeology.gif \" alt=\"prehistoric archaeology\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" \/> historical records began.<br \/>\n<strong>Prehistoric archaeology<\/strong> is one of those chewy definitions that not everybody agrees on. Mostly, as compared to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greatarchaeology.com\/historical_archaeology.htm\"><strong>historical archaeology<\/strong><\/a>, prehistoric archaeology refers to the <strong>archaeological remains of cultures<\/strong> that are primarily pre-urban and so, by definition don&#8217;t have contemporary economic and social records that can be consulted.
