{"id":112,"date":"2009-03-24T11:09:08","date_gmt":"2009-03-24T11:09:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.greatarchaeology.com\/news\/?p=112"},"modified":"2009-03-24T12:21:37","modified_gmt":"2009-03-24T12:21:37","slug":"mummified-salt-men-of-iran-shifted-to-archaeological-museum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.greatarchaeology.com\/news\/2009\/03\/mummified-salt-men-of-iran-shifted-to-archaeological-museum\/","title":{"rendered":"Mummified salt men of Iran shifted to archaeological museum:"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">In the last 10 years 6 Iranian mummies (salt men) have been  unearthed<strong> <\/strong>at the Chehrabad <span class=\"ilspan\">Salt<\/span> Mine in the  Hamzehlu region near Zanjan, Iran.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Four salt men were kept at the <a title=\"Zanjan Anthropology Museums\" href=\"http:\/\/www.greatarchaeology.com\/museum_details.php?museum=Zanjan_Anthropological_Museum\"> Rakhtshuikhaneh Meseum<\/a><br \/>\nin  Zanjan.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Due to insufficient funds there were no permanent cases to  preserve the salt men. The plexiglass designed for the salt men were not sealed  air tight. Changes in the temperature have created cracks in the case and have  allowed bacteria to enter. Though the damages are not visible to the naked eye,  the bacteria are damaging the internal organs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong>Studies on the salt men reveal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong><em>First salt men \u2013 1700 years old (Died at the age of  30-40)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong><em>Fourth salt men \u2013 2000 years old ( Died at the age of  12-13)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong><em>Other salt men \u2013 unknown<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Sixth Salt Man &#8211; left in place due to the lack of  equipment necessary for its preservation in Iran.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">According to Manijeh Hadian, studies have been completed for  making permanent cases for the salt men.
