Description :

The Museum of Byzantine Culture is an archaeological museum located in Thessaloniki, Greece. It was inaugurated in 1994, and is the first museum in Greece dedicated to the study, research and promotion of the history, art and culture of the Byzantine period. The museum is housed in a modern building with a permanent exhibition, as well as a library and laboratories for conservation, research and education. The permanent exhibition of the Museum of Byzantine Culture consists of a wide range of artifacts, including sculptures, frescoes, mosaics, coins, and architectural elements.

These artifacts are organized in five different sections: the Pre-Byzantine period, the formation of the Byzantine Empire, the Golden Age of the Byzantine Empire, the decline of the Byzantine Empire, and the post-Byzantine period. The exhibition also includes a multimedia presentation, educational programs and activities, and a virtual tour of the museum. The museum also organizes temporary exhibitions focused on various aspects of Byzantine culture, such as its art, architecture, religion, and daily life. In addition, the museum offers educational programs for school groups and adults, as well as seminars, workshops, and lectures.
