The Bo-Kaap Museum is located in the Bo-Kaap neighborhood of Cape Town, South Africa. Bo-Kaap, which means “upper cape” in Afrikaans, is an area rich in cultural history. The Bo-Kaap Museum was established in 1994 to help preserve the heritage of the neighborhood and its residents. The museum consists of a two-story home, which has been preserved and restored to its original 18th-century Cape Malay style. The home, which is over a hundred years old, is filled with artifacts, photographs, and documents that tell the story of the Bo-Kaap’s past.
