Flint Knappers   Humans that flake stone such as flint into projectiles and tools or replicas thereof
floor-plan   a scale drawing of features matrix changes and important associations completed for the end each excavation level in given
flora   Plants of a given region or period geologic time
floral remains   remnants of past vegetation found in archaeological sites see microfloral Useful the reconstruction environments
flotation   the process of recovering small particles organic material by immersing sediment samples in water or other fluids and skimming off which float on surface An important method for obtaining microfloral microfaunal remains carbon archaeological recovery seeds materials from soil using liquids
Flute   A long narrow grove resulting from the removal of an elongated channel flake which extends basal edge a projectile for some distance along face Used to thin hafting area
Flute, Median   On multifluted faces it is the main central most and usually longest flute
Flute, Primary   The first median flute to be removed in the fluting process
Flute, Secondary   The second median flute to be removed in the fluting process This was from face opposite primary
fluted   grooved or channeled A point is a projectile which has had one more long thinning flakes removed from the base along both faces e.g. Clovis Folsom points blade that flutes
