gorget   a relatively large, flat, or gently curving object of polished stone, shell, or metal, with holes for suspension. Usually believed to have been worn as an ornament around the throat.
granulation   the soldering of grains metal to a background usually same and much used by Etruscans
grave goods (also: "grave inclusions", "mortuary goods", etc.)   tools, weapons, food or ceremonial objects placed with a burial
graver   a small pointed or chisel-like stone tool used for incising engraving A with sharp tip that was to engrave bone wood other materials
Greenstone   A type of stone, selected for color rather than composition, used by early cultures to create jewelry, ritual objects, statuettes, and other artifacts; used in particular in Mesoamerica studies.
Grid   a network of uniformly spaced squares that divides site into units used to measure and record an object's position in space
grid-system   a system of rectangular excavation or sampling units laid over site by strings and stakes
Grinding   A method of stone working employed in the smoothing an edge or surface by rubbing it with a hammerstone other abrader prior to use Performed on projectiles blades so that hafting materials lashings would not be cut sharp edges base Also commonly referred as Basal when and sides stem have been ground There are varying degrees grinding typically light moderate heavy
grit   crushed stone or sand placed in clay order to make potter vessels stronger
grit and grog tempered pottery   Sand crushed sherds mixed in the unfired clay to make ceramic vessels stronger These inclusions prevented rapid expansion of paste as clay's water content was boiled away when fired
