In 1961 Caudill began to investigate the Japanese culture again. This time he was concerned in the reasoning and ideas behind the Japanese child-rearing practices.
While at Harvard he was also concerned with numerous organizations and he held a chair in the Personality and Environment Section.
He participated in the Lab of Socio-environmental Studies.
He was also the section chief of the United States National Institute of Mental Health from 1960 until 1962.
He was a man that put forth a lot of effort in researching and investigating people of different cultures and moral backgrounds.
