It lies in a valley surrounded by the Andean mountains in the south of Ecuador.
At present the country\'s third city was established in 1557.Before 30 years by the Spanish king Charles V,the rigorous planning guidelines were issued. It still observes the formal orthogonal town plan that it has respected for 400 years.
