  • It has a prominent role as the urban centre of an inland territory assigned to cattle breeding and the sugar industry.
  • It covers an area of 54 ha which contains an exceptional example of a traditional urban settlement.
  • In terms of urban layout,the Spanish colonizers followed medieval European influences and by their masons and construction masters, traditional building techniques brought to the Americas.
  • The property shows the influence of number of styles through the ages: neoclassical, eclectic, Art Deco, Neo-colonial as well as some Art Nouveau and rationalism.
