Culture
Human habitation of this extended sand dune peninsula is 98 km long and 0.4-4 km wide.
Its dates back to prehistoric times.
Throughout this period it has been vulnerable by the natural forces of wind and waves.
Its endurance to the present day has been made possible only as a result of uninterrupted human efforts to combat the wearing of the Spit, dramatically pictured by continuing improvement and reforestation projects.
