  • The site of the Berry-au-Bac is a Neolithic site in the Paris Basin of a France.

  • Dated between about 4500-4000 BC, Berry-au-Bac is the considered a Late to Post Bandkeramik site, and it is one of the latest and furthest east sites of the LBK culture.

  • Archaeological work at Berry-au-Bac has defined a settlement of rectangular timber buildings enclosed by a ditch with a palisade line.

  • The enclosure is clearly a defensive structure.The town and site of Berry-au-Bac was damaged during World War I, ironically anough, has been the focus of archaeological investigations concerning that component as well.
