  • It was named Bagrat III and it was named as Bagrati Cathedral after its construction the first king of united Georgia .It was started at the end of the 10th century and was completed in the early years of the 11th century.

  • It was partly destroyed by the Turks in 1691 and its ruins still lie in the centre of Kutaisi.

  • The Gelati Monastery\'s main buildings were assembled between the 12th and 17th centuries and it is a well-preserved complex.They are having wonderful mosaics and wall paintings.

  • The cathedral and monastery indicates the flowering of medieval architecture in Georgia.
