  • The Atlantic Forest South-East Reserves contain some of the best and most extensive examples of Atlantic forest in the states of Paraná and São Paulo, in Brazil

  • The site displays the biological richness and evolutionary history of the few remaining areas of Atlantic forest of southeast Brazil and the 25 protected areas that make up the site.

  • The mountains are covered by dense forests which are down to wetlands and coastal islands which is isolated with mountains and dunes. The area comprises a rich natural environment of great scenic beauty.

  • In the southeast region of Brazil, the Atlantic Forests (Southeast) contains the best and largest remaining examples of Atlantic forest .

  • The area is also exceptionally diverse with high numbers of rare and endemic species.

  • With its “mountains to the sea” attitudinal gradient, its estuary, wild rivers, karst and numerous waterfalls, the site also has exceptional scenic values.
