  • The Area de Conservación Guanacaste, is a World Heritage Site in the northwestern part of Costa Rica, which comprises Santa Rosa, Guanacaste, Rincón de la Vieja National Parks and the Junquillal Bay Wildlife Refuge.

  • In 1994, It formally became part of National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC) and in 1999 it became a World Heritage site .

  • The Area de Conservation Guanacaste comproses of different categories of National Parks: Santa Rosa, Guanacaste and Rincon de la Viejas, as well as Estacion Experimental Horizontes and the Wildlife Refuge of Bahía Junquillal.
