Description:
The Illinois Archaeological Survey (IAS) is a society of professional archaeologists, and other technical professionals, devoted to identifying and preserving important archaeological resources throughout the state of Illinois. The Survey was established in 1956 and is one of the oldest professional archaeological societies in the Americas. Beyond its bulletins, circulars, monographs, and special publications, the Survey produces a journal of archaeology entitled Illinois Archaeology. An annual fall conference focuses on some of the previous year's more major archaeological endeavors.
